How We’re Responding to COVID-19 at CAMS Automotive

New Orleans has been one of the hardest-hit areas for the novel coronavirus, a potentially deadly and highly infectious disease that has swept the globe since December 2019. Here’s how we’re handling these unprecedented times at CAMS Automotive Services.

How We’re Responding to COVID-19 at CAMS Automotive
At CAMS Automotive, we take your health and safety seriously. Here’s what we’re doing to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus and ensure our customers can continue to have their vehicles serviced as safely as possible:

  • You can now drop your vehicle off for service without physical contact. Use our after-hours key drop at any time of the day. We’ll call you for additional information about your repair.

  • Vehicles are protected with steering wheel covers, shift knob covers, seat covers, and floor mats throughout the entire repair process.

  • Digital vehicle inspection procedures are used so that you can see the areas of needed repair without having to come into the shop.

  • Our office area is regularly disinfected. A cleaning service trained in COVID-19 disinfection protocol comes to our office to regularly clean and disinfect the area.

  • Your vehicle is disinfected after service. Our mechanics wipe down your door handles and other high-touch surfaces in your vehicle before it is returned to you after repair.

Having Your Vehicle Serviced During a Pandemic

Vehicle repair services are generally considered an “essential business” and remain open whenever possible. CAMS Automotive understands that being able to provide other essential workers with reliable transportation and timely vehicle repairs when it’s most needed is critical for the community.

We are currently offering necessary services such as brakes, tires, alignment, window repair, air conditioning repair, engine and electrical repair, and other services that keep your vehicle running. Vehicles needing cosmetic repairs will be deprioritized for urgent repairs during the coronavirus pandemic so we can ensure our community workers have reliable transportation and can continue to serve us safely.

What We Know About the Coronavirus
In late 2019, the Chinese city of Wuhan experienced an outbreak of a novel or “new” coronavirus. Coronaviruses are common in humans and are responsible for illnesses like SARS and the common cold. However, this new virus proved to be quite different from similar diseases the world has fought before, like Ebola and the swine flu. Its high rate of infectiousness coupled with its abilities to spread undetected and cause serious symptoms make it a challenge for healthcare professionals to treat.

While the majority of individuals who test positive for the coronavirus will exhibit mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, some people will experience:

  • Fever

  • Dry cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • Chest pain

  • Digestive issues

In some cases, medical intervention is necessary to assist patients with breathing and rarely, complications from COVID-19 will be fatal.
